Buke & Gase

Naming their band after the instruments they play, and in-fact constructed themselves, Arone Dyer who plays the "buke" (bass ukulele) and Aron Sanchez who plays the "gass" (guitar bass) make up the duo Buke & Gass (renamed Buke & Gase). Formed in 2007, the Brooklyn duo makes unique, layered indie pop through the aid of the aforementioned instruments, homemade amps, sleigh bells attached to the band members' feet and a kick drum. The music itself is incredibly charming, but Dyer's vocals lend a bluesy grit to the songs, making them all perfectly balanced between cute and hard-edged. Quite the perfectionists, Dyer and Sanchez perform live shows with devoted attention to flawlessly executing every musical intricacy, but still find time to tell jokes between songs.
