Michele Mariotti is a conductor from Pesaro, Italy who made his conducting debut at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno in 2005. After making a large impression, he was invited to succeed the revered Daniele Gatti as the principal conductor of Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Having distinguished himself quite significantly in Europe, he was commissioned by The Metropolitan Opera in New York for three consecutive seasons starting in 2012. Consistently lauded by critics who praise his ability to bring a fresh approach, with an emphasis on nuance to conducting, as Mariotti continues on with his already impressive career, he'll no doubt grow into one of the most revered conductors of his generation.
