Anita Ratnam

About

Anita Ratnam's spiritual connection with dance started under the training of the famous Bharatnatyam exponent, Adyar Lakshmi. In the later years, her focus broadened to ethnic dance forms, Mohiniattam and Kathakali. Some of her award-winning performances include solo acts and interesting choreography pieces that blend traditional and contemporary martial arts, Kalaripayattu and Tai'chi, along with Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam and Kathakali. Her shows held in various countries have created awareness of Indian art and culture. At home front, Anita has started a performing arts institute, Arangham Trust. She plays her role of a cultural activist successfully with her tremendous involvement as a co-director and co-producer of The Other Festival; an annual arts festival held in India.
