Markscheider Kunst is a ska band from St. Petersburg, Russia that emerged during the 1990s third wave of ska. With a name that translates to "colliery Surveyor Art," the eight-outfit released its first album Kem Byt?, in 1994, debuting a ska sound infused with elements of rockabilly and R&B. As Markscheider Kunst continued to release albums into the 2000s, such as 2001's Krasivo Sleva and 2008's Cafe Babalu, it expanded its style to include blues as well as various Jamaican and Latino influences.
