Bosnian Rainbows is an alternative rock band that emerged out of El Paso, Texas in 2012, when guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López put his main project The Mars Volta on an indefinite hiatus. Teaming up with keyboardist Nicci Kasper, Le Butcherettes' vocalist Teri Gender Bender and The Mars Volta drummer Deantoni Parks, Rodríguez-López turned what was supposed to be another solo endeavor into a proper band, reveling in the prospect of collaborating rather than leading. After releasing a handful of well-received singles and capturing an existing audience among fans of The Mars Volta, Bosnian Rainbows released its eponymous debut LP in 2013.
