An inspiration to a whole generation of dancers, Pandit Birju Maharaj is a brilliant guru of the classical dance form of Kathak in India. Part of a family which boasts of a long tradition of artistic brilliance, he is one of the key reasons for Kathak to be established as a popular dance form in India and abroad. With various awards and honors like the prestigious Padma Vibhushan and honorary doctorates from universities in North India, Panditji's expertise has no match. Apart from regular stage shows and overlooking the running of his Kathak school, Kalashram, Pandit Birju Maharaj has also choreographed some wonderful pieces for mainstream Bollywood movies.
