Namie Amuro is a Japanese singer born in Okinawa. She was discovered by Tetsuya Komuro, who is a very famous producer in Japan, and gained fame in the late 1990s. She is best known for "Amuro-style," which consists of long brown hair and short miniskirts that were in fashion among Japanese teenage girls at the time. After she shifted her pop music style to hip-hop and R&B, she has been very popular, especially among young women.
