The very famous, Khagen Mahanta along with his wife, Archana Mahanta, have made a significant mark in the genre of Assamese folk music, Bihu. Their son, Angaraag Mahanta, grew up to be influenced by these traditional rhythms, at the same time being inspired by fusion and electronic sounds. Papon, as he is popularly known as, is now an established singer and composer. This award-winning artist has released two albums, shared the stage with Midival Punditz and Kailash Kher, composed music for regional and Bollywood movies and performed at international festivals. It's interesting to witness his versatility as he plays various instruments including the guitar, tabla, piano, khol and harmonium.
