Otto Lechner

Otto Lechner is an Austrian accordion player who self taught himself the instrument at the age of four--growing into one of Europe's better known accordion players despite going blind at the age of 14. Though familiar with the instrument by the time, he lost his vision, Lecher's lack of sight could partially account for his adeptness at the instrument, considering his four other senses are heightened as a result of his blindness. Managing to keep up an impressive work schedule, in addition to maintaining a respectable solo career, Lechner is also director of two ensembles in Vienna: Otto's Jazz Ensemble and Das Erste Wiener Strenge Kammerorchester.
