Boomtown Rats

Boomtown Rats is a new wave band from Dublin, Ireland, that was initially formed in 1975 as The Nightlife Thugs. With a punk rock sound, the band moved to London and dropped its eponymous debut album in 1977 with Ensign and Mercury Records. Though the band successfully transitioned into the new wave era with albums such as 1979's The Fine Art of Surfacing, and 1982's V Deep, Boomtown Rats split up in 1986 as its members pursued other projects. Nearly three decades later, the group reunited in 2013 for an extensive European tour.
