Roberto Abbado

Roberto Abbado is an Italian music conductor and the son of musician Marcello Abbado and nephew of conductor Claudio Abbado. He studied conducting at La Fenice, Venice, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Lucia, where he was the only student to conduct the school's orchestra. Abbado has since been awarded the "Franco Abbiati" award by the National Association of Italian Music Critics for Conductor of the Year, the critics noting his "maturity of interpretation and … breadth and curiosity of repertoire." Abbado has conducted orchestras in Germany, Italy, and the Unites States.
