Marcus Shelby is a bassist and jazz composer from Alaska. He is also the bandleader for the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra which was formed in 1999. Having produced remarkable orchestral works in association with California Shakespeare Theater and the Intersection for the Arts, he has worked with versatile artists like Tom Waits and Ledisi. With the Marcus Shelby trio, he has recorded several popular tracks like "Slappin' 7th Avenue With the Soles of My Shoes" as well as well-known albums like The Sophisticate and Un Faux Pas!
