Sofia Jannok is a Swedish singer/songwriter who specializes in singing a traditional style of Scandinavian folk music. She released her debut album, White, in 2007 and the LP's blend of old world musical sensibilities with distinctively modern sonic crispness helped distinguish Jannok from the myriad of other musicians on the multifaceted European music scene. Though her music might be difficult for those living outside of Northern Europe to truly understand, listeners don't need to be well versed in Swedish traditional music lore to enjoy Jannok's rich and emotive vocal stylings.
