Agnes Carlsson, who is known professionally as Agnes, is a Swedish pop singer who rose to prominence as the winner of the widely popular Swedish televised singing competition Idol in 2005. With songs that typically feature Agnes's emotive voice soaring over well produced electronic instrumentals, Agnes's popularity has led her to be looked at as somewhat of a modern flag barer of the Swedish pop genre. Though Angnes's core fan base is centralized in Sweden, she also has a fairly dedicated throughout much of Scandinavia and some of mainland Europe.
