Mumbai-born guitarist and electronic music composer Charanjit Singh got his start as a session musician for Bollywood movie soundtracks in 1960s and throughout the 1980s. His 1982 original album Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat, was an initial failure both critically and commercially, but was rediscovered in the 2000s and redistributed in 2010. The re-released album was met with critical acclaim for its acid house leanings and has even been hailed as one of the earliest carnations of the genre. Singh's blend of electronic, raga and contemporary Bollywood music has brought him to countries across Europe where his world house sound has resonated in local electronic music scenes.
