About
Formed by guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch, Masterplan is a power metal band from Hamburg, Germany. After being dismissed from Helloween, the two founders assembled a full lineup and released the new band's eponymous debut album with AFM Records in 2003. Though the band would see several lineup changes over the course of the next decade, including Kusch's departure, Grapow remained at the helm of the project, maintaining the band's melodic heavy metal sound on studio albums such as 2013's Novum Initium.
