Since he first experimented with a beat machine in the 1980s, Chicago-born and Brooklyn-based electronic music producer Ron Trent has been crowding dance floors with his house and techno tracks. His first recording, 1990's "Altered States," has since become a techno favorite, though he quickly moved into the house music scene. Combining soul and jazz with the underground Chicago house music he grew up listening to, Trent began producing deep house music and brought the sound to Brooklyn where he began collaborating with various artists and evolving his DJ style.
