Jimmy Z and the ZTribe

A virtuoso on the harmonica and saxophone, and a respectable player of the flute, Jimmy Zavala, or Jimmy Z, has graced the bands of many prominent musicians, including Rod Stewart, Etta James and the Eurythmics. Starting his career in high school, playing his saxophone in many blues bands on the Sacramento club circuit, Zavala soon discovered the harmonica and added it to his repertoire. Eventually deciding to relocate to Los Angeles in 1980, Zavala caught the attention of Rod Stewart's backing band, who were looking for a saxophonist. After auditioning, Stewart was exceedingly impressed and Zavala went on to tour with his band. Now a highly sought after studio musician for album recordings, a consistent tourmate of Etta James, and a musician in his own right, with multiple solo releases (many produced by Dr. Dre)., Jimmy Z has rejoined with his backing band the ZTribe and continues to tour with them.
