Building a reputation in high school playing regularly at the popular Los Angeles venue The Smell in 2008, Abe Vigoda is a four-piece made up of fairly young lo-fi punkers with a penchant for experimental noise. The group takes its name from the 70s actor Abe Vigoda, most known for playing Detective Sgt. Phil Fish on the TV sitcom Barney Miller and maintains some of that 70s DIY aesthetic in its music. Though Abe Vigoda is still considered an underground phenomenon, the band has received a good amount of acclaim since its debut full length and has developed a devout following.
