You know those old, nostalgic textbooks that were created in the 50s and contain facts that have since been proven false? They're great pieces of text that perfectly surmise American post-war academic ambition. These books are so campy and enjoyable that the members of Colorado-based Candy Claws decided to create albums that would act as companion pieces for a few of these text books. One of the group's albums, 2009's Hidden Lands, deals with the wondrous world of plant life and another, 2010's In the Dream of the Sea Life, focuses on the underwater intricacies of plans and animals living in marine environments. Both albums are full of intelligent dream pop with hazy vocals and the music seems to perfectly encapsulate the books that served as inspiration.
