About
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, William Basinski would go on to study jazz saxophone and composition at North Texas State University. After falling in love with minimalist compositions and artists like Steve Reich and Brian Eno, Basinki stated making his own unique style of ambient music using old reel-to-reel tape decks. Basinki released his debut LP, Shortwavemusic, in 1998 and since then he has managed to release a steady supply of inventive avant-garde material, helping him become one of the more respected experimental composers of his generation.
