Seeking to propell the Americana folk genre into uncharted waters in the 21st century, Birds of Chicago manages to do just that with doleful songs that feature adept instrumental composition and finely crafted lyrical accompaniments. Founded in 2012 in Chicago and comprised of husband and wime JT Nero and Allison Russell, the group released its debut album, Real Midnight, in 2016 and has since kept active, releasing additional albums, performing and building a name for itself as one of the premier acts on the modern folk circuit.
