Roky Erickson

Roky Erickson was the front-man of the ridiculously influential Austin,  Texas band The 13th Floor Elevators who, almost single-handedly,  inserted the "psychedelic" into 1960s psychedelic rock. Unfortunately,  beset by 20 years of mental illness, drug abuse and career  mismanagement, Erickson became a Syd Barrett-like figure--known as much for his tragic reclusion as his myriad of musical accomplishments. In 1995, he made a return to both recording new music and performing live, often with the scores of popular musicians whose work he influenced.
