Common Dead is a melodic death metal band from Chicago that began as the solo project of Andrew Laurenson. As a one-man show Laurenson developed a following in the underground metal scene with all-instrumental sets and soon assembled a full band. With Laurenson on lead guitar and occasionally adding vocals, Common Dead released its eponymous debut album in 2009. Driven by melodic guitar and gritty vocals, the album offered a fusion of melodic thrash and groove metal that would go on to define the band's sound. Common Dead released its sophomore album, Diatribe in 2012.
