About
With a lineup consisting of veteran metal musicians, Axewound had a preexisting fan base when it formed in 2012. Bullet for My Valentine vocalist Matt Tuck conceived the idea for Axewound and recruitied an all-star lineup of Cancer Bats lead vocalist Liam Cormier, Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood, former Rise to Remain bassist Joe Copcutt and Pitchshifter drummer Jason Bowld. Upon officially announcing itself a band, Axewound created immediate buzz by releasing its debut single "Post Apocalyptic Party," and confirming itself as a sub-headliner for the 2012 Download Festival.
