Pronounced "chaos" and an acronym for "knowledge of self," k-os is the stage name of Canadian rapper, producer and musician Kevin Brereton. First appearing on the hip hop radar in 1993, k-os soon after disappeared because he was dissatisfied with his sound and didn't reappear until 1999. By 2003, he had become a platinum artist on the Canadian charts and is known for his raps with positive messages, often condemning mainstream hip hop's glorification of violence and wealth, as well as his live performances with a full backing band, an anomaly in the hip hop genre.
