The Canadian-bred Nickelback, led by vocalist Chad Kroeger, is an updated grunge outfit. The band combines hoarse yet passionate vocals and distorted guitars with radio-friendly hooks and catchy choruses to create a style of music that is easy to digest. The band is often labeled as Canada's answer to Creed, another fairly successful post-grunge band, but while Creed quickly took to mainstream popularity, Nickelback embraces its small North American town roots with a bit more heartland-style vulnerability.
