Benny Green is a pianist from New York City who is known for crafting hard bop jazz compositions. With a tenor saxophone player as a father, he picked up an appreciation for jazz at an early age and started his professional career during his teenage years in San Francisco. Upon his return to New York City, he joined Betty Carter's band in 1983 and finally settled in as the leader of his own trio in 1991. He's since released several recordings as leader such as 2001's Green's Blues, and 2014's Bluebird, as well as collaborations and work as a sideman.
