Cortney Tidwell was raised in a family of musicians--her father was the country singer Connie Eaton, her mother produced multiple Top 40 country hits in the '70s and the majority of her extended family was connected to the Grand Ole Opry in some form or another. It would have been difficult for her not to become a musician, and though she did follow in her family members' footsteps, she branched out beyond just country and incorporates different elements into her music, including dream pop, traditional Asian melodies and electronic flourishes.
