Epidemia is a six-piece Russian power metal band most famous for recording the Elven Manuscript metal opera - a concept album following the mythical tale of the half-elf warrior Desmond and his journey to save the elven kingdom, win the princess and secure the thrown. With a huge Russian fan base, the group performed a dramatic opera version of this album in 2007 to over 5000 fans and was afterward asked to perform at various festivals throughout Europe. While the band never gained widespread success in the US, it was nominated for an MTV Europe award and has devoted fans across its home country.
