Idan Raichel is a singer/songwriter and musician from Israel who uses electronic textures and elements of Latin American music, Ethiopian music and Hebrew script to create a folk pop fusion of world music. While working as a session player, he began recording his first project, inviting over 70 musicians of various backgrounds, including Arabs, Yemenites, Ethiopian Jews and South Africans, to create a internationally-flavored melting-pot of sounds. The resulting album, Idan Raichel Project, garnered a world-wide audience and immediate critical acclaim upon its release in 2002. Raichel has since continued to bridge cultural gaps with each of his subsequent records, including 2013's Quarter to Six.
