Named after the San Francisco museum of the same name, Musee Mechanique was formed by childhood friends Micah Rabwin and Sean Ogilvie in Portland, Oregon. With the addition of three more members, the band released its first EP in 2008 to moderate acclaim. Utilizing unusual instruments like the glockenspiel, melodica and musical saw, Musee Mechanique produces interesting indie folk that has been compared to the likes of Beirut and Neutral Milk Hotel. Texturally complex and masterfully crafted, the music of Musee Mechanique begs repeated listens.
