About
Neil Simon's American black comedy that was originally released on Broadway in the early 70s and eventually became a popular film in 1975, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, follows the downfall of the Edisons, of a middle-aged couple living in Manhattan. Focusing primarily on the difficulties of city life, including a garbage strike during a heat wave, robberies and noisy neighbors that, coupled with the loss of Mr. Edison's job, cause him to suffer a nervous breakdown, the play teeters between a serious drama and bittersweet comedy. The play's revival stars Jeff Goldblum and runs at the Vaudeville Theatre in London.
