Taking the DIY philosphy to the extreme, Portsmouth based Leigh Mary Stokes and her backing band managed to release a debut EP complete with artwork, successfully promote this EP and book an extensive national tour all on their own. This may be a feat attempted by many broke musicians, but it is rare for them to succeed enough to get themselves on BBC radio within a few months. Stokes creates sweet indie pop-rock that has caught on in much of Southern England.
