Inua Ellams

About

Nigerian-born Inua Ellams considers himself a Word and Graphic Artist and writes his plays with the rhythm of romantic poetry and hip hop lyrics in mind. His play Untitled follows the life of a pair of Nigerian twins who are allowed to name themselves as every child in this imaginary society. While one brother names himself, the other is prevented from doing so, as a disaster befalls the town during the naming ceremony--the mother grabs the named child and flees the country to England, while the unnamed is forced to raise himself without a recognizable identity. The new play will open at the Old Vic Theatre in Bristol and will tour throughout the UK.
