After listening to the haunting music of American singer Julee Cruise, people are constantly struck by the overpowering sounds that Cruise is able to create with her voice. Cruise got her breakthrough when she wrote a song for the 1986 David Lynch classic Blue Velvet - a tune that went on to receive quite a bit of laudation for its dream-like qualities. After the strong critical reaction to her work on the Blue Velvet soundtrack, Cruise recorded her debut LP and the record was met with a good deal of support from people who considered Cruise's downtempo inspired ethereal pop to be extremely interesting musical material.
