When identical twins Tegan and Sara Quin started performing together they were 17 and needed adult supervision to play in some of the clubs they performed at. As the sisters matured and started making more music, the duo progressed towards a sound that's deeply rooted in indie pop but also New Wave aesthetics tinged with light electronic stylings. The Calgary, Alberta duo has had mixed success ever since releasing its debut album Under Feet Like Ours in 1999, but has a devout following throughout North America.
