Based on the novel by Phil Stong and the screenplay by Oscar Hammerstein II, with musical pieces borrowed from other Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, State Fair follows a family from Iowa and the three days spent at the state fair. While the parents focus on winning ribbons for their prized boar and mincemeat, their son and daughter find young love and heartbreak. After receiving huge acclaim on Broadway, the performance has crossed the pond to the UK and is directed by the celebrated Thom Southerland.
