Scotty McCreery is a country singer from North Carolina who received his big break when he won the tenth season of American Idol in 2011. Starting his musical pursuits while in high school by joining a vocal ensemble, McCreery soon realized his affinity for music. Singing country tenor, McCreery soon began entering local talent competitions and winning them--prompting him to audition for American Idol when it conducted a talent search near him. After winning, McCreery released his debut LP, Clear as Day, in 2011, a country-influenced pop album that managed to sell extremely well, earning platinum status in the United States.
