Maria Markesini

Greece born Maria Markesini discovered music at an early age, starting piano lessons at age 5 and hosting children's music television programs by age 12. A classically trained pianist, Markesini began touring Europe, playing recitals to much acclaim in her early 20s. However, she began to feel that her true passion was singing jazz and after injuring her hand before a scheduled recital, she suggested that she sing jazz rather than canceling the performance. Met with much audience enthusiasm, Markesini began dividing her time equally between classical piano and jazz and now tours doing both.
