Portico Quartet

The English shoegaze-inspired band Portico Quartet makes a beautiful, instrumentally complex brand of music. After spending a couple of years playing small bars and busking outside of theaters around London, the band signed a record deal in 2007 with Babel Label and released its debut record, Knee-deep in the North Sea. The band's experimental jazz, created with both drum machines and acoustic instruments, was well received by critics and industry personal, particularly other musicians who praised Portico Quartet for its virtuosic instrumentals. The band released its third studio record, an eponymous album, in 2011.
