David Charles Sumner, who performs and releases music as Function, is a DJ and producer from New York City. Developing an interest in techno acts like Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa and Man Parrish at a young age, Sumner would start DJing in 1986 and developed a well-honed sound. Initially building his name as a live performer, Sumner would eventually release his debut LP in 1996.
