Born in Dresden and raised by parents in the film industry, Jan Josef Liefers immediately took to acting. After appearing in countless films and television programs, Liefers turned to trying his hand at music, wanting to tell his story of growing up in East Germany while it was a socialist state. To do this Liefers formed a backing band in 1999 and began providing the lyrics for his new band members' pop-rock compositions, which are sometimes epic and sometimes quaint, while focusing on personal anecdotes that describe daily life under socialist rule. His live shows include cinematic projections that go along with the stories of his songs and provide for an enlightening performance.
