Donny McCaslin is a jazz saxophonist from Santa Clara, California who came to attention when David Bowie hired McCaslin and his ensemble to serve as the backing band for his final album, 2016's Blackstar. Taking to jazz and the saxophone at a young age, McCaslin would go on to receive a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 1984. Creating a style of music that seamlessly blends the avant-garde and traditional jazz worlds, McCaslin released his debut album, Exile and Discovery, in 1998 and since then he has remained active, releasing additional material, touring and collaborating with big names from the modern music world.
