Formed in 1990 and led by former Spacemen 3 frontman Jason Pierce, Spiritualized is a British space rock band that has released a string of well received studio albums, perhaps most notably the group's critically lauded 1997 LP, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. The group's 1992 debut album, Lazer Guided Melodies, helped set the standard for the band's subsequent releases, with its rich choruses and clean production aesthetics--a stylistic departure from the drone intensive work Pierce had done with Spacemen 3. Continuing to maintain a druggy, yet intellectually refined sound over its decades long career, Spirtualized has grown into one of the more prolific space rock bands to have maintained a long running career, full of forward thinking album releases and consistent international tours.
