After the huge success of prog metal band System of a Down, drummer John Dolmayan and guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian, branched off and decided to form a side project, Scars on Broadway. Exchanging the Middle Eastern flair for more straightforward rock, the duo still manages to produce hard hitting jams. The new band has been met with differing opinions about the rather crude and offensive nature of its lyrics, some fans dismissing it as a campy joke, while others calling it a reversion backwards in System of a Down's musical progression.
