The Canadian act Hey Ocean! is an alternative rock and synthpop band. It was founded in Vancouver in 2004 when childhood friends Ashleigh Ball and David Beckingham joined hands with David Vertesi to form the band. Ball is the flutist while Beckingham and Vertesi play the guitar and bass respectively. All three members provide vocals for their songs. The band's music is influenced from multiple genres that include pop and acoustic. After releasing music as an independent act for many years, the band signed with a major record label in 2011. Its songs "Big Blue Wave," "Tonight It's Christmas Time," "Sleepwalker" and "The Hurt of Happiness" have been huge chartbusters.
