About
Born in Detroit in 1934 and raised in an orphanage, Curtis Fuller is an example of the rags to riches American success story. Attending primary school with other soon to be jazz virtuosos such as Paul Chambers and Thad Jones, Fuller honed his skills on the trombone and got his break playing with Miles Davis in the late 1950s, where Blue Note Records first discovered him. Fuller played as sideman with many notable musicians, but received the most acclaim as trombone leader, and today is known as one of America's most influential jazz trombonists.
