About
Based on reports from inside Syria, Fear of Breathing is a documentary theater piece that exposes personal stories from the Syrian uprising that began in 2011. With the goal to tell the real-life story of what is happening in Syria, award-winning journalists Paul Wood of BBC and Ruth Sherlock of The Daily telegraph teamed up with theater director Zoe Lafferty and traveled to the country undercover, ultimately evading the Syrian regime, the ban on Journalists and restrictions on non-Syrians. After speaking with protesters, ex-soldiers who helped form the Free Army, and citizens who still support and adore President Bashar al-Assad, the two journalists and director brought stories of oppression, fear, toruture and capture by Syrian forces back to London to produce Fear of Breathing, with verbatim reports, interviews and footage from what they heard and saw.
