The Golden Gate Quartet is a Southern gospel group that originally rose to fame in the 1930s(!) and were a mainstay of the widely popular radio programs that showcased Southern gospel acts. The group's popularity has experienced a number of ups and downs over its storied career, but the band is still kicking and dishing out its characteristic form of early gospel that was so influential for the early pioneers of recorded music.
